Engineers Without Borders Chapter Goals EWB-TAMU will deliver sustainable and innovative solutions to real-world problems in order to empower international communities by offering opportunities for the students of Texas A&M University to: Manage international engineering projects, Develop relationships with members of other cultures Create engineering designs, Lead the implementation of those designs, and Initiate the supporting functions of the projects: fundraising, manage finances and establish relationships with faculty and donors Metrics for organizational development:  Publicity: Member Recruitment and Retention  Training: Membership Development  Fundraising and Spending Improvements  Project size and Quantity  Project Quality and Improved Execution: Project Development WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Focus on the community. Undertake and accomplish big projects. Serve people.

The TREASURER Position is now available for Spring 2011 Positional Responsibilities  Manage the SOFC account (reimbursements, reconcile the account every other week, make payments)  Maintain records of donors, incoming and outgoing funds  How we spent money on projects- Annual Report  Compile budgets received from project leads  Give weekly financial updates during Development committee meetings  Handle Membership dues Talk to a Grady or Kevin after the meeting.

Why you should come It is FUN! You learn a lot of practical things – many times hands-on. You get to interact with other EWB members. For the occasional food. Take a break from school. Gives you something to talk about in an interview. To reward officers’ hard work.

Financial Considerations help us help you (and the community) Current budget for January:  $7,500 for Acuna Implementation  $5,000 for Costa Rica assessment  $500 for operations  $500 for local projects (likely to increase) Outlook for next semester and summer:  $3000 for Int’l Conference (hopefully will be sponsored)  Possible $15,000-20,000 for Costa Rica Implementation  Possible $5,000 for BELIZE assessment trip Long Term: $30,000/yr

Fundraising progress Civil Engineering Department- $2,000 Leftovers from summer fundraising/spending:  ~$7,000  Travel team input for Costa Rica travel- $1,500+  Other stuff: $more Funds still needed for January: ~$5,000  Civil Engineering Advisory presentation- raise awareness  Engineering Development Office presentation- raise awareness, get assistance  Corporate Letter Campaign- ~50 letters
