The Bad News 137 children died last summer in US children younger than 15 years drowned in a pool or spa during the traditional summer season of Memorial Day to Labor Day in children of that age required emergency response for near-fatal incidents in pools or spas during that period. U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Also: - elderly people - drunk teenagers A child can drown as little as 30 seconds. For every child who drowns, four children are hospitalized for near-drowning For every child who drowns, four children are hospitalized
