Restoration Satire How the political climate shapes literature

What was the Restoration Monarchy is restored, civil war is ended Pomp and circumstance heralds the return of the “pre-Puritan regime” (494). What is Swift criticizing in this quote? “I could not sufficiently wonder at the intrepidity of these diminutive mortals, who durst venture to mount and walk on my body, while one of my hands was at liberty, without trembling at the sight of prodigious creature as I must appear to them” (2338). Is his message effective? Why? Within the genre of satire, what techniques does Swift use to carry through his purpose?
