Presentation transcript:

John Jay Audubon Born in Saint Domingue (now Haiti) April 26, 1785, and died January 27,1851. His occupation was a Naturalist, painter, and ornithologist. He was notable for his expansive studies to document all types of American birds and for his detailed illustration that depicted the birds in their natural habitat.

Contributions John Audubon explored the United States and identified 25 species of birds. While exploring he continued to draw birds as a hobby. His famous portfolio was called “Birds of America”. It contained 435 life size prints of birds that he drew. John Audubon focused on birds habitat as well as the species of the bird. Todays studies are very similar to how John studied birds, but we have more technology that allows us to go farther and deeper into the middle of the land to find more species.

John Jay Audubon fits into our AP environmental Science class because he tries to understand and learn about species habitats. He also tries to learn about the destruction of habitats that birds face.
