Born in 1397, but he claims to be born at 1396 He was named Paolo Di Dono His father was a barber At the age of ten, his was apprenticed to the famous sculptor Lorenzo Ghiberti At that time, he met Donatello and eventually became life long friends There isn’t a lot of sources about his life, and the only way to find out was Giorgio Vasari’s biography about him (which was written 75 years after his death) or some official documents. He got the name “Uccello” (which meant bird) because of the way he loves birds EARLY LIFE

He was famous for “foreshadowing” and his obsession with perspective He was very obsessed with perspective that he would stay up all night finding the perfect vanishing point Some of his paintings that is very famous is the “Battle of San Romano” WHAT HE WAS FAMOUS FOR

Has 2 children, Antonia, who was a Carmelite Nun, but still was considered a painter. And Donato, who did paint some works No one knows where he got his form of art Artists were influenced by his perspective, Piero della Francesca, Albrecht Durer, and Leonardo Da Vinci, just to name a few He was a mathetician, as he was taught Geometry. He didn’t care about money, only his art work He made a announcement of retiring saying “I find myself old and ailing, my wife is ill, and I can no longer work.” Most of his works are either destroyed or badly damaged LEGACY AND FACTS ABOUT HIM

At his last years, he was lonesome and forgotten He made a announcement of retiring saying “I find myself old and ailing, my wife is ill, and I can no longer work.” He died at age 78 at the Hospital of Florence at December 10, 1475 He was buried in his Father’s tomb in the Florentine Chruch of Santo Spirito DEATH
