By Rebecca Short Benedict Arnold And George Washington in the American Revolution.

Benedict Arnold. Benedict Arnold was a brave, smart American General. He had much mind power over many different forces, and that was of great aid to him.

Benedict.. In 1779, he had been making deals with the British. This was because of his frustrations with the American Government. They found out about his scheming and realized that he was using their army for personal reasons. He also did work for the British. He was a spy for them and that gave him lots of money. They had made him promises to soon make him a British Officer, but that never followed through because of their lack of trust for Benedict.

Benedict.. Benedict Arnold made several different offers to the British. One offer in particular was to hand over a very important fort (West Fort) where Benedict was the general. Benedict hooked up with John André. The two became friends and exchanged letters about their plans regarding West Fort. Unfortunately, André was caught by the Americans and they found the letter in his sock. The letter proved to the Americans that Benedict was a traitor and had been doing their Country wrong. As for Benedict, he escaped the Americans and was never caught. He spent the rest of his life living in Canada and England. Benedict died June 14, 1801, in London England.

George Washington Washington is remembered as a Founding Father of the United States of America.

Washington.. George Washington served as a public leader to an infant nation. He was the Commander in chief of the colonial forces in the American Revolution. Nowadays, people would know him for his leadership and strength as he walked the weakened colonial troops through a rough battle against the mighty British Army.

Washington.. After the win against England, Washington was elected as the First president of the US. He brought things like respect to the office, making a role model of himself for other presidents who would follow him.

Washington.. In 1776, Washington peacefully gave up his role as President of the United States to John Adams. He was happy to be able to have his life back and his wife and stepson were also happy to have him back. Sadly, in December of 1799, Washington passed away of a cold he caught 2 days prior.

The act. Benedict, out of frustration decided that he was going to switch forces. In the beginning, he was on the same side as Washington, but that all changed when the American’s began giving him a hard time about using the army for personal reasons, etc. Benedict’s scheming partner Andre was caught with their plots of turning over West Point and Andre was caught by the Americans. Benedict escaped and was never bothered by any of the forces again.

The significance of the act What was significant in whole ordeal was that Benedict was handing over forts to British forces and it had a considerable impact on the American’s war effort.
