Poem Summary In the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, there are three guys who are attending a wedding. As they approach the entrance they are stopped by an old sailor ( the Mariner). He holds them against their will by using his hypnotic eyes And begins to tell them about his dangerous sea adventure, through Antarctica, how he and his crew ended up in a foggy ice Field, and how they came across the Albatross(used metaphorically to mean a psychological burden that feels like a curse). The albatross helps them and steers them through the journey but the Mariner shoots the Albatross with a crossbow. Furthermore, after the murdering of the Albatross bad luck began to arise, they get lost, they run out of water, everyone is Mad at the Mariner for what he has done, and bad spirits begin to haunt the crew on the ship so the crew members decide Hang the Albatross around the Mariners neck to remind him of his deed. The journey continues, the crew is dying of thirst. They come also come across another ship which was piloted by two bad Spirits which causes everyone on the ship but the Marnier to die. Back to the three guys, the guys, with quickness they says he is a ghost, and replies by saying he is the only one who survived On his journey. He continues about how he traveled on the ship with dead bodues, and how he was haunted by slimy Water snakes. He blesses them the curse dropped and the albatross around his neck fell into the ocean. He falls asleep, he Wakes from a storm where he see his dead shipmates arise and the ship headed into the direction to get him home, but Two voices, the spirits, are controlling the deceased crew and is steering the ship. They also reminds him of killing the Albatross and how he still has to be punished. He makes it to shore, he is glad, but as soon as he gets off the ship his ship sinks and as the someone came to rescue him from Shore he is desperate to tell his story and is in pain until he tells his story. He is still in pain which is why he tells the three Guest for the wedding. He wraps up his story by saying he needs to say his prayers and love people and things. After that long Story the guest no longer goes to the wedding and the Marnier goes home.

Poem Analysis Thesis Statement : In the poem, Rime Of The Ancient Marnier, Samuel Taylor Coleridge gives us, the readers, A representation of how the living and the supernatural are and can be connected throughout life. Theme & Tone : The two major themes are the Natural world and The Spiritual world and how they intertwine with one another. Another theme would be imprisonment because it also shows how he grew loneliness and he was tormented throughout his journey on sea. Symbolism is the major analysis of poem. Some examples would be the weather since the entire story was about his adventure on sea, the icy parts of Antartica, as well as the bad storms that occurred. The moon : the white moon illuminates on him as he travels through the fog. Also in Part 6, 111 The moon : the white moon illuminates on him as he travels through the fog. Also in Part 6, 111 "Still as a slave before His great bright eye most silently Up to the Moon is cast—.“ As the crewmembers his lord, The Ocean hath no blast; His great bright eye most silently Up to the Moon is cast—.“ As the crewmembers Arisen the moonlight was in there eyes, showing that the moon was calling the shots in the adventure. Most importantly the Albatross : The Albatross’s intentions were to help but when the Marnier murdered him His bad luck began to haunt him which cause his whole journey to painful, left him isolated, and constant suffering.

Conclusion In this poem the author teaches us that a thoughtless act can cause a lifetime of suffering and regrets. He uses the lifeless mariner to tell the story to the guys that pass by. The poet emphasizes that we need to be mindful of our deeds, pray, and love and everyone and everything.
