Brief Outline of Field Trip – NSCI Credit Level 7 Course – within the Bachelor of Applied Science, Department of Natural Sciences Taught in the Summer Semester Aims and Learning Outcomes

Aim: To provide an opportunity to consider and study in situ, the ecology and conservation of a critically endangered ecosystem. Learning Outcomes develop an appreciation and understanding of the conservation challenges facing part of the island of Borneo (Sabah, Malaysia); have the opportunity to study the ecology and biodiversity of tropical rainforest; design and carry out research studies based on the impacts of logging activities in tropical rainforest - in a challenging and unfamiliar environment; analyse and interpret primary field data; develop your skills for accurate, intelligent data collection and observation; data recording and presentation; work in a team
