Drop out Rate Florida is number 48 in highest rate of dropouts in the continental US…there are only 50 states!

 55% of all students entering Florida’s public postsecondary institutions require remediation in math, reading and/or writing. 94% of students requiring remediation were enrolled in community colleges. 94% of students requiring remediation were enrolled in community colleges.  Employers estimate 45% of recent high school graduates lack skills to advance.  ACT estimates only half of college-bound students are ready for college-level reading. Of those who do Graduate from High School... Graduate from High School... many are Unprepared for College and Work

Postsecondary Completion Rate ♦ 43% enroll in four-year institutions ♦ Only 15% complete a four-year degree within 6 years of high-school graduation ♦ 20% complete a four-year degree eventually ♦ Roughly half of all high school graduates fail to find stable employment by the time they are thirty.

Why is this Important?   65% of the fastest growing occupations require some postsecondary education or training. .  By 2013, 85% of all U.S. jobs will require a certificate, associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree or higher.  Source: US Dept. of Labor

CONSIDER the POSSIBILITIES
