GLOBAL WARMING PRESENTED BY- NUPUR TANDON IX-B, SMGS

Everyone is talking about global warming. But do we actually know what is it?Global Warming is the increase in the average temperature of earth.Due to this the frequency of natural disasters is also increasing. The natural habitats of animals are being destroyed.ecosystems are shifting…… WOULD WE BE ABLE TO SURVIVE??

Why is it caused? 1).The green house gases present in the atmosphere like CH4,CO2,etc.have the property to trap heat reflected by the sun some of which is reflected back in form of infrared radiations. These gases further play a major role in increasing the earths temperature. However it is also true that survival without thes gases is not possible as they maintain the temperature on earth!!!

2).The second reason is deforestation.Deforestation is the rapid felling of trees on a large scale. As we are moving towards a globalised world, need of large areas for industries is increasing. Also forests are being burnt to increase the land under cultivation.Due to this is there is an ecological balance in nature.Level of CO2 is tremendously increasing, thus decreasing the O2 level in air.

Hey!what do you think, will I survive?? What about me??

Think globally,Act locally.

Just preaching about global warming is not enough,if we really care,we have to initiatives on our part. And the simplest of all…just GO GREEN!!!

INITIATIVES ON YOUR PART

INITIATIVES ON OUR PART…..

 Reduce the number of miles you drive by walking, biking, carpooling or taking mass transit wherever possible. Avoiding just 10 miles of driving every week would eliminate about 500 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions a year! Look for transit options in your area

Plant a tree—trees are the ultimate source of O2.Knowing the importance of trees,we cut them mercilessly, and not thinking of our futre without them. If this continues, who knows if we have to live on oxygen masks??

Follow the 3R’s--- 3R’s RecycleReuseReduce

Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (cfl) CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. This simple switch will save about 300 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

  Use the "on/off" function on the machine itself. A TV set that's switched on for 3 hours a day (the average time Europeans spend watching TV) and in standby mode during the remaining 21 hours uses about 40% of its energy in standby mode.

 Move your fridge and freezer-- Placing them next to the cooker or boiler consumes much more energy than if they were standing on their own. For example, if you put them in a hot cellar room where the room temperature is 30-35ºC, energy use is almost double and causes an extra 160kg of CO2 emissions for fridges per year and 320kg for freezers.  Cover your pots while cooking Doing so can save a lot of the energy needed for preparing the dish. Even better are pressure cookers and steamers: they can save around 70 %!

 Take a shower instead of a bath A shower takes up to four times less energy than a bath. To maximize the energy saving, avoid power showers and use low-flow showerheads, which are cheap and provide the same comfort.

  Solutions to global warming can be endless. But it will make a difference only if we follow them.We need to be the change that we want to see around us.And for that we need to change our mindsets..and..our attitiude.

BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE AROUND YOURSELF Your earth is in your hands Your earth is in your hands..
