UON INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY Why IR for the UON? To be in line with the UoN vision, mission and core value of the spirit of cooperation Library Objectives of resource sharing

Why IR (Cont.) Improves visibility of the institution and the scholar (Usage worldwide) World Institutional repositories – OPEN DOAR

Why IR (Cont.) (repositories in the world) infrastructures.eu/ (European) infrastructures.eu/ Open access journals - DOAJ

IR (Cont.) Managing the universitys image globally by exposing its product. (Adds to Inst./faculty Prestige by showcasing its academic research to improve rating of the institution) Long term preservation of intellectual output

(Cont.) Enrich education through sharing the learning of the rich with the poor and the poor with the rich to help others build upon the research

(Cont.) Gives authors and their works immeasurable publicity and increased visibility

UoN IR - ESTABLISHEMENT library is in the process of establishing an IR – Initial stage Committee set up to look into logistic issues

Establishement (Cont.) Contents - technical papers, research articles, lnaugural lectures, conference proceedings, theses etc Customization completed Propasal to justify the need for an IR

Establishement (Cont.) Staffing: o IR administrator to spearhead the project o Train more staff/researchers in submission of content (Workshops and Seminars)
