WATER CONSERVATION! BY: ADNA GAZIC, BRANDON TERRY, DAVID ATKINSON, AND TYLER STEVENS

WHAT WAS ONCE SO PLENTIFUL…

…IS NOW GONE!

AN AVERAGE BATH USES 37 GALLONS OF WATER. YOU CAN USE 5 GALLONS IF YOU LEAVE THE WATER RUNNING WHILE BRUSHING YOUR TEETH. AROUND 40 GALLONS ARE USED EVERY 10 MINUTES OF THE SHOWER RUNNING. PUBLIC WATER SERVICES PROCESS 38 BILLION GALLONS OF WATER A DAY. 22% OF WATER USAGE COMES FROM DOING LAUNDRY. THE AVERAGE PERSON USES 20 GALLONS OF WATER A DAY TO FLUSH THE TOILET A CUP OF COFFEE TAKES 55 GALLONS TO MAKE WITH MOST OF THE WATER USED TO GROW THE BEAN. WATER USAGE STATS! ARE YOU ONE OF THE AVERAGE AMERICANS THAT USE 140 GALLONS OF WATER A DAY? IF SO, TAKE A LOOK AT THE STATS BELOW, AND SEE HOW MUCH WATER YOU ACTUALLY USE AND WASTE!

CALIFORNIA THEN AND NOW! IN JUST 3 YEARS, FOLSOM LAKE IN CALIFORNIA HAS LOST ROUGHLY 85% OF ITS WATER.

THIS IS WHERE WE ARE HEADED! CALIFORNIA DROUGHT STATS! 80% OF WATER IS USED FOR AGRICULTURE. 800 BILLION GALLONS OF GROUNDWATER IS EXTRACTED PER YEAR. 90% REDUCTION OF MOUNTAIN SNOW BY % OF SNOWFALL WAS BELOW NORMAL IN WINTER. IT COSTS $600,000 TO DIG A DEEP WELL. CALIFORNIA HAS ABOUT ONE YEAR OF WATER STORED. BEEN DROPPING MORE THAN 12 MILLION ACRE FEET OF WATER YEARLY SINCE 2011.

THIS IS WHERE WE ARE HEADED CONT… WESTERN U.S. DROUGHT STATS. CURRENT DROUGHT IS DRIEST IN 1,200 YEARS. EVIDENCE SUGGESTS THIS IS A MEGA DROUGHT (LASTING MORE THAN TWENTY YEARS). USING TREE RINGS THAT GO BACK TO THE TIME OF CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS, SHOWS THAT WE HAVE NOT HAD A DROUGHT THIS BAD SINCE THAT TIME. UTAH IS THE SECOND DRIEST STATE IN THE NATION AND THE NUMBER THREE SPOT FOR POPULATION GROWTH.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO IMPROVE?

WASTE WATER TODAY, LIVE IN A DESERT TOMORROW!
