2 Workability Asia (WAsia) is the network of disability organizations who provide work and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities in Asia.

3 Being a leading organization building cooperation among member organizations & international networks for developing potential of member organizations in generating jobs and promoting decent work for Persons with Disabilities in Asia Vision

4 Value Believe in potential, worth, rights and human dignity of Persons with Disabilities. Mutual support of one and another on an equal basis for creating employments, will lead to independent living with happiness

5 Mission To expand and strengthen member organizations in coverage of Asia To coordinate with International networks To exchange knowledge and mutual support of the member organizations and International networks mainly to develop personnel and give support for initiation of laws, policies, guidelines plans or good case- studies for generating jobs and promoting employments for Persons with Disabilities

6 History Service providers and disability organizations participated the international organization, Workability International (WI)and created Workability Asia as its regional group in In 2008, WI conference at Sapporo, Japan was the restarting point of Workability Asia and new board of directors were elected in Manila, Philippines in 2009 reviewing the structure, membership, finance and activities to make a network viable and sustainable.

7 In June 2014, 36 members of WAsia coming from 12 countries/regions - Bangladesh, Hong Kong (China), India, Japan, Macau (China), Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Thailand. UNESCAP reported that in Asia and Pacific region, 650 million persons with disabilities. Most of them live in poverty and alleviation of poverty is through job and employment.

8 Workability Asia’s members make their best efforts to secure the right to work for persons with disabilities, to create opportunities of gainful employment in respective countries/areas.

Taipei, Taiwan, hosted by the Eden Social Welfare Foundation in conjunction with WI Annual Conference 2013 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, hosted by Dual Blessings Bhd 2014 Cancelled 2015 Pattaya, Thailand, to be hosted by the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities

12 Knowledge Sharing Issue Newsletters to members and non- members News contents are regional and international topics with regard to disability, work and employment, domestic reports, members’ update, conference and meeting announcements

13 Exchange Program Coordinate study visits or staff training programs among members in specific themes on work and employment of persons with disabilities so as to develop their knowledge and skills.

14 Study and Research Conduct study and research on governments’ policies, innovation initiatives by private sectors, etc. in promoting work and employment opportunities of persons with disabilities in Asia Region and return its outcome to members and non-members as well. 15 Networking Having close relations with regional and international organizations, both government and non-government organizations, who actively contribute to solve a range of problems, promoting social inclusion of persons with disabilities in the area of work and employment.
