Presentation transcript:

 Take out your rough draft for the essay! If you have it, you will get an A just for bringing it in!

 Using your rough draft for analysis, answer the following questions in the SpringBoard section of your notebook:  How will you use your prewriting and outline to be sure you include all the components identified in your organizational structure, including and effective introduction and conclusion?  Now look at your essay. Do you have an introduction and a conclusion?

How can you and your writing group peers use the Scoring Guide to help you note areas in need of improvement such as cohesion of ideas, organizational structure, or use of language? Look at your draft. Now find the Exemplary” column on p. 46. Does your paper fit into this category?

How will you ensure that you make necessary changes to the draft as you refine your ideas? How can you revise for purposeful and clear use of language, including syntax patters such as parallel structure and phrases?

All you have to do for homework is the following: Look at your rough draft one more time and revise it. Bring it in next class with any changes! * Do your Reading Plus! If you look in the gradebook, we are already checking it!

 OK, you have worked very hard today! Your homework is to come up with a rough draft. We can look at it next class and do some editing! Bring it in for a grade!

 Embedded Assessment #1 is an important project!  Due dates are:  October 20 th (B day)  October 21 st (A day)  Feel free to bring me a rough draft before the due date and I can help you edit, or schedule a time to meet with me if you need additional help!
