TASK: Conduct Day Orienteering CONDITION: During daylight hours, move by foot, cross country, wearing ACU’s complete, FLC with four quarts of water, compass, protractor, MOLLE rucksack IAW packing list, rubber M16 and 1:50,000 map of the area. There are three checkpoints that must be reached. Each team will carry two D-stars vests. STANDARDS: Teams must reach all three checkpoints and reach the near side of second armored division road (CP3) before the drop dead time, IOT remain in the competition. TASK, CONDITIONS, STANDARDS

COMPETITOR'S BRIEF (1 of 2) After the Urban Obstacle Course, you will move to the start point. At the start point you will be given your map, protractor, pencil, and score sheet. You will not look at the map or score sheet until after start time. All teams will start at the same time. YOU MUST MOVE TO ALL THREE CHECKPOINTS WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT TO CONTINUE THE COMPETITION. THE TIME IT TAKES TO MOVE FROM THE START POINT TO THE FINISH POINT WILL BE USED TO SCORE THE EVENT IN RELATION TO THE OTHER TEAMS FINISH TIME. Teams, which consist of two competitors that started the event together, will remain within ten meters of each other at all times while executing the event. You will maintain control of all your equipment and not separate for any reason unless there is a real world emergency. In case of an emergency, press the panic button on the D-Star and notify a rover. While executing the event no team will communicate (verbal and nonverbal), navigate, or assist any other team in any way. You will not move or work at a point within 10 meters of another team. The only navigational aids that will be used are the Army issued lensatic compass, protractor, and the map issued by the NCOIC. No competitor will be allowed to communicate with coaches or civilians before, during or after the Land Navigation Course. Each point can be identified by an orange VS–17 panel and Cadre. 5-gallon water jugs will be at each point. Cadre members will be roving from point to point to make sure teams are not violating the standards. There will be designated water points on the course for the competitors.

SAFETY BRIEFING: Do not bother snakes, insects, any other animals, or UXO’S along the course. THERE WILL BE NO CONTACT WITH COACHES AND SPECTATORS AT ANY TIME!!! If at anytime time during the course, you or your Ranger Buddy becomes injured and are unable to complete the course, press the panic button on the D-star. Move to a road and make contact with a rover. The rover will call for Medics that will move to your location and assist you. If the competitor cannot continue the Rover will then move that team to Camp Rogers. If for some reason the course is terminated due to weather or any unforeseen reason, the termination signal will be the loud continuous blowing of a horn. In the event of a severe storm, you will be contacted either by a Land Nav Rover or by radio and will be informed to move to the low ground and wait for further guidance. COMPETITOR'S BRIEF (2 of 2)

SCORING SCHEME Teams will be ranked according to total time, fastest to slowest. If the competitors violate any of the T,C,S or competitor’s brief, they will be disqualified from the event.
