Where’s the bricks? Unlike Lego, Crickets do NOT come with building materials! Now What?

3 Stages of Cricket Materials 1. Stick-Bots 2. Sticky-Bots 3. Sticky & Junky-Bots

Stage 1, Stick-Bots Free & cheap "Non-Consumable Consumables" Originally, like Lego, Re-Usable Kits (Non-Consumables) Found a Blanket was First Good Ingredient...

Experimented with building with many types of materials..

Noticed kept coming across hobby sticks over and over...

Two Versions, Brown & White and...

… multi-colored, which eventually became clear was best. So one of the main ingredients is colored craft sticks!

Stick Stick-Bots Together with… Multi-Color Tape (Staples etc.) Multi-Color/Size Clamps (Staples etc.) Multi-Color Paper Clips (Staples etc.) Color Rubber Bands (Staples etc.)

Hardest to Find, Mechanisms… Pick up Sticks (Toys R Us) Spacers (Hardware Store) Multi-Color/Size/Shape Beads & Blocks (Toy Stores etc.) Gears (Lego &/or Kelvin Catalog)

Started simple with pure mechanical structures. No electronics or computation … First challenge was to simply to develop stable structures...

Eventually… Worked up to the standard Bugs & Cars (Only pulley rather than gears)

Challenge #2 Participate! Contribute! Be Creative!

Extra Challenge, Build-A-Car! (Cricket Manual)
