Which areas of advocacy action to prioritise in Southern Voices? Impact on poverty, resili- ence and sustainability Better national policies International commitments Effective policy implementation Governance Resources Multilateral funds Bilateral funding Donor national interests action

Objectives To promote and facilitate cross-learning and exchange of experiences To increase the visibility of the advocacy work being done by Southern civil society actors on climate change Serve as the public face of the Souhtern Voices Prog Target Groups civil society networks and their members Their partners, other stakeholders and potential donors The general public concerned about climate change

Challenges in making an active learning platform Sourcing stories and news from networks Getting stories in a form which fits the webpage For regional facilitators to edit input into articles Promoting sharing through – maling lists – between networks? Actions: guidance and training in writing a good advocacy stories In writing for the web – in a journalistic way In editing articles for the web

Key elements in an advocacy story Who are the actors - particularly civil society What recommendations / objectives promoted Who are they addressing – who should act differently (government, companies, citizens.. specifically) What is the evidence? Who will the recommendations benefit? a social dimension / trade off or is it win-win.? What / Who are the obstacles

Focus on advocacy Advocacy is a process of influencing....selected people or institutions......in order to achieve policy, practice, social, behavioural or political changes......that will benefit particular groups

Phase 3: dual applications To be resolved: Do networks follow consortium partners? What when networks are working on both clusters? How to set-up thematic cross learning? Demand led? How set-up cooperation on learning and secretariat If one application fail?
