Nordunet2 goals The overriding aim of the Nordunet2 programme is to help secure the position of Nordic countries at the forefront of Internet development. Its focus is on network utilisation and network-based applications.

The scope of Nordunet2 Nordunet2 will focus on four main areas: Distance education and lifelong learning Tele Medicine Digital libraries Infraservices

The Nordunet2 organization A steering group with representatives from each country, plus representatives from the Nordic Council of Ministers and NORDUnet A project manager, paid by NCM and employed by USIT A secretary for each of the four main areas A reference group for each of the four areas, with representatives from each country

Reference groups Objective is to function as an expert group for Nordunet2 i.e. –Evaluate and give recommendation in connection with applications –Contribute to formulate and update stategy. Will form the backbone of a Nordic human network with focus on the possibilities offered by the Internet.

Nordunet2 projects should Demonstrate a Nordic dimension. The project results should be generally applicable in all Nordic countries Be connected to publicly supported research activities. At least one partner must represent a university or other public institution of higher learning Have network relevance –advanced application using network in advanced manner –application using network in advanced manner –advanced application using network
