Mason-Dixon Line By: Angel & Hydeia

Mason Dixon Line Mapped By: Charles Mason & Jeremiah Dixon Boundaries: Separated the Northern and Southern and freedom and slavery. Symbolic: Division between the free states and slavery states. Has to do with slavery: To separate slaves from the free people.

Segregation Segregation: Is separation of race or class. End of segregation: 1965 Dondre: was segregated when he was at the golf tournament. Clifton: : was segregated because he couldn’t get into the amusement park. Both: They both were turned down because of their color.

Lincoln Memorial Location: On the National Mall in Washington, D.C What it is: An American memorial built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Why they built it: two years after his assassination, Congress formed the Lincoln Monument Association. Words written on it: "In this Temple, as in the hearts of the people, for whom he saved the Union, the memory of Abraham Lincoln is enshrined forever". What these words mean: He saved the Union and the people built a statue because of what he did.

Make A Connection The Mason-Dixon line affected both Dondre and Clifton because they passed the northern border line they were going to be segregated. Dondre was affected because he wasn’t allowed to play in the golf tournament. Clifton was affected because he wasn’t allowed to go inside the amusement park. Abe had something to do with it because he split the states up by colors in the Southern in Northern part.
