Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry First Quarter Team Interdisciplinary Project (TIP)
Important Information Due Date: October 6, 2014 Value: 15% of overall quarterly grade in each core subject class (Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Reading) Total points possible: 100 All 5 parts must be completed in order for students to be eligible for quarter final exam exemptions. No late projects will be accepted!
Reading: Bio Cube Planner
Reading “At-Risk” Students will create a bio-cube showing the similarities between a famous Civil Rights leader and a character from the book.
After the bio cube….. Students will conduct research on a prominent civil rights leader that their teacher will assign, and write a 2 paged typed double spaced paper that shows a comparison and contrast between a the civil rights leader and a character from the book.
Science Students will use the scientific process to complete an experiment using plants. The teacher-led experiment will prepare them for the expectations of the second quarter Science Fair TIP project. *The experiment will be completed in class. *The conclusion and graph will be finished and completed at home. *Students must complete the lab Report at home. Most of this Will be done in class.
Language Arts Students will work in groups during class to create a script for a new scene that fits in with the feeling and mood of the book. The final script will be typed at home. Students will present their scene to the class.
Math Students will choose from a list of careers in the 1930’s. Based on the yearly salary for that career, they will calculate their weekly and hourly salary. They will also create a food budget and menu. The math teacher will give Them the information.
Social Studies Students will create a scrapbook of photos related to several events Plessy v. Ferguson A school-related scene that includes a Roll of Thunder character Brown v. Board of Education Little Rock Nine A school-related scene from modern times
Social Studies Continued Each page in the Instagram post or Scrapbook must include the following information: A visual representation related to the event The name and date of the event. A summary and outcome of the event. Related Constitutional Principles. Implications or impact for society.
