AEHT HEG SEMINAR - ATHLONE 2011  Public vocational training institution  Trains more than1000 young people and adults from the age of 14  EQF 1-4: qualifications in the trade and catering industry as fully skilled chefs, pastry chefs, waiters and shop-assistants in its initial vocational training courses  EQF 5: post secondary, higher vocational education courses (trade, catering and hospitality management)  The institution is an affiliated training department of the University College of Szolnok. The higher vocational education courses are offered as credit- earning foundation modules towards the Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in ‘Tourism and Catering’ & in ‘International Business Administration’

AEHT HEG SEMINAR - ATHLONE 2011  Theoretical vocational education and training at school;  Practical training at school (practice workshops, kitchen, restaurant, cabinets and offices);  External training practice: the students are employed by trade, hotel and catering establishments and companies of Szeged as apprentices and interns under a special training contract.

AEHT HEG SEMINAR - ATHLONE 2011  Content and format: centrally standardised and prescribed by the National Institute for Vocational and Adult Education.  Each year there is an official list of the thesis topics.  The thesis has to prove the student’s practical professional skills and theoretical knowledge as well.  It has to be based on the student’s thorough studying of the special literature of the given topic and the student’s practical experience.  It has to contain the student’s individual professional opinion and points of view.  Length: pages

AEHT HEG SEMINAR - ATHLONE 2011  The final examination is a centralised, standardised national assessment developed by the National Institute for Vocational and Adult Education, and administered at the school.  Module-based examinations with written, oral and practical modules, covering all subjects.  In their final examination the students have to present and defend their thesis in front of the expert members of the Examination Board (7-10 experts).  They get questions in connection with their thesis from the opponent expert and their theme leader.  A B2/C1 level foreign language examination for special purposes is part of the final examination, with a correspondence, mediating and negotiating module.
