Our secondary school Our secondary school is small because it is situated in Oliana and this village is also very small. There are about 100 students in our school divided into 4 groups: 1st ESO (26 students) 2nd ESO (24 students) 3rd ESO (26 students) 4th ESO (20 students) In our school there is a special class for those newly arrived students where they learn the Catalan language and bits of culture. This year there are Business Administration studies for adults every day from 19h to 22h.

In our school there are … 3 computer rooms: in each room there are twenty computers a drawing room 1 laboratory the gym a library 1 audiovisual room a big playground we share with pupils from the primary school next to us a technology room: in the technology room there is a workshop for us to practise what we learn there.

Backgrounds to our school This building is very new because the old school was in another area near to this school. The government built a new one because the old was eighty years old and the rooms were very old and small, and there werent proper facilities.

The activities in our school There is a football pitch and a basketball court. You cant see it but we also have a gym where we can play different different sports like hockey, table-tennis, voleyball, etc. We often go to the town sports centre to play tennis and baseball because, as we said before, our school is very small to hold such big facilities.

Why our school is called IES Aubenç Our school is called Aubenç because around our school there are lots of mountains and one is called Aubenç. The letters I.E.S mean secondary education institute and all state schools are called like this.
