Challenges We Faced with During Accreditation of the Joint Study Programme Regional Development and Governance

Conditions for Accreditation of Master's Degree Study Programme  the supervisor of the programme must have current publications of high quality related to the programme field  in Master study programme, there must be at least 60% of teachers Assoc. professors or Professors  in the Czech rep. these academic titles are subject of the long process of habilitation procedure  compact, coherent and logical content leading to the fulfilment of graduate knowledge portfolio

Conditions for Accreditation of Master's Degree Study Programme  study programme must contain an adequate range of "standard" subjects – e.g. for economic field in terms of economy theory, mathematics and statistics  erudition of all academic staff included in study programme  no special regulation for development of Joint Degrees exists in the Czech Republic

Accreditation Process  the Accreditation Commission meets only three times a year  accreditation material must be submitted three months before the meeting  the accreditation material must be in Czech as well as English language  it must contain summary of publishing activities and quotes from all academic staff involved in the programme

Internal Process of Accreditation  the Faculty prepares the full accreditation material  the accreditation material is approved by Academic Senate and Scientific Council  after the approval, the material is evaluated by Internal Accreditation Committee of University  it is necessary to incorporate all comments – a brief profile of the graduate, clear aims of the programme

External Process of Accreditation  the Accreditation Commission assesses the formal aspects at first  after that two reviews by renowned experts are carried out  on the basis of them the accreditation is discussed in the Economic Committee  if Economic Committee recommends approval then Accreditation Commission accredits the study programme  the accreditation is usually granted for four years  the content (courses) should not be changed more than 20%

Challenges we Faced with  internal: different conception of the programme – missing micro/macroeconomics and mathematics  participation of the appropriate academic staff with good level of English that are also experts in the field which fits to the programme  external: comments from Accreditation Commission regarding detailed explanations of the structure and organisation of study at two universities  time management – rare meetings of commitees

Thank you for your attention
