Welcome and introductions Gary Wright, Headmaster Liz Stephenson, Academic Deputy Head John Squire, Head of 6 th Form

Why Study in the Adcote 6 th Form? We pride ourselves on being ‘small enough to care’ Subject teachers will know each student as an individual; Classes will be small enough for personal attention and support; Tutor groups of no more than 6 students will allow tutors to provide individual pastoral and academic guidance; Each student has the opportunity to make their voice heard and shape the destiny of the sixth form; Tailor made courses within a flexible timetable. Much more flexibility than larger institutions;

Why Study in the Adcote 6 th Form? Safe, secure environment – free from distractions Unique within the school environment – given positions of responsibility, sit on committees with staff, student voice, There is a strong link between pupils and staff. Close family atmosphere in the school – strong pastoral support available. The ‘personal touch’. Growing Sixth Form but commitment to small class sizes

A Typical Adcote Sixth Form Timetable Each lesson is 1hour long and there are 25 in a school week Usually four AS subjects are chosen with 4 lessons each One or two lessons of games based PE are also included as well as one lesson of PSHE when the Head of Sixth Form will give support and guidance It is advised that for every hour spent in lessons you should be completing another hour of independent, self-directed study You will have a generous allowance of six study lessons within the school week alongside the option to stay for Prep for further private study All Sixth Formers will have use of the Sixth Form Centre and the Sixth Form Study Room which has dedicated networked computer access Boarders may also study in their rooms in the Boarding House

Quotes from students ‘ At Adcote there is a happy medium. Not only do we feel stretched by academic work and responsibilities, there are also many extra activities provided. Members of the Sixth Form take part in clubs varying from singing in the School Choir to Judo and Horse riding. One of the privileges of life in the Sixth Form is the additional freedom’. ‘We all feel that Sixth Form life at Adcote has helped us to form close friendships and has prepared us for future working life’.
