2 Background 2010:  Office of the Auditor General.  Formation of Provincial Hand Hygiene Working Group.  Clinical Care Management (CCM) priority area.

Successes :  Provincial policy issued.  Best practice doc issued.  Auditing in acute care sites.

Successes :  Public reporting.  Aggregate data.  Occupational results (Annual).

Results to Date Provincial compliance rate = 70% Three year goal = 80% 5

Lessons Learned 6 Implementing a provincial program requires: Philosophy of evidence-based care. Multidisciplinary collaboration of experts. Sub-working groups to manage large work volume. An effective Secretariat. Regular integration of feedback from front-line workers.

Lessons Learned 7 Implementing a provincial program requires: Early engagement with consistent Ministry representative who understands the history & rational of decisions. Province-wide participation on working groups. Effective internal communication. Flexibility.

Where Next..? 8 Auditing of residential & long-term care. Facility-level public reporting. Clinician, staff & patient engagement.
