You heard there may have been some discrepancies in your sources, but you don’t know how many at this point, but you must find out soon.  You must take your initial assessment of the scene in order to find out what you don’t know and how to use what you do know to solve this case.  Using the Pop Quiz, begin to weed out facts from fiction.

6 How is the APR Organized? Introduction Calculations for GPRA & Efficiency Measures 6 Sections in HEP APR & CAMP APR (A-F) Part 1 of APR is the Instructions Includes Definitions of Terms Includes Data Checks Part 2 of APR is the Actual Form Includes Data Checks Part 3 of the APR is the GPRA 1 Documentation

7 How is the APR Organized?  Introduction:  States the purpose of the program  Provides the legislation that authorizes OME to collect annual performance data

8 How is the APR Organized?  GPRA 1 Measure & Calculation  CAMP National Target is 86% of the no. served  How would you know if your project met the national target or not?  Two alternatives to calculate GPRA 1 measure dependent upon if the project over-served or not  Option a is for grantees who actually SERVE LESS than the number funded to be served or SERVE EXACLY the total number funded to be served  Option b is for grantees who actually serve MORE than the number funded to be served

How is the APR Organized? GPRA 1 Calculation Example #1 Q1. Project Hoodwink is funded to serve 60 students per year. They served 52 students during the budget period. Out of the 52 students served, 45 students became 1 st academic yr. completers and 4 of the students became persisters.persisters Formula for GPRA 1 Measure = no. of CAMP Completers no. funded minus total no. of persisters A1. GPRA Measure 1: ___45___ 60-4 or 56 = 80% 9

How is the APR Organized? GPRA 1 Calculation Example #2 Q2. Project Bamboozled is funded to serve 75 students per year. They served 81 students during the budget period. Out of the 81 students served, 67 students successfully completed their first year of college and 1 of the students became a persister.persister Formula for GPRA 1 Measure = no. of CAMP Completers no. served minus total no. of persisters A2. GPRA Measure 1: ___67____ 81-1 or 80 = 84% 10

11 How is the APR Organized?  GPRA 2 Measure & Calculation  CAMP National Target is 85% of GPRA 1  Only one way to calculate GPRA 2 Formula for GPRA 2 Measure = No. CAMP Completers who Cont’d. CAMP Completers

12 How is the APR Organized? GPRA 2 Calculation Example Q3. Project Bamboozled had 67 students successfully complete their first year of college. Out of those 67 students, 64 students continued into post-secondary education. A3. GPRA 2 Measure: ___64____ = 96% 67

13 How is the APR Organized?  Efficiency Measure  The efficiency ratio is calculated as, per budget period, the total budget amount awarded for that budget period divided by the number of 1 st academic yr. completers who continue into postsecondary education. Formula: Amount Awarded in Current Budget Pd._____ = Efficiency Ratio No. 1 st academic yr. completers who continue Example: $395,000 award = 9,875 per completer 40 1 st academic Yr. completers who continue who continues

14 How is the APR Organized?  Six Sections (A-F)  Section A –Project Statistics & GPRA  Section B-Project Students & Participation  Section C-Project Services  Section D-Project Goals & Objectives  Section E- Budget Information  Section F- Additional Information

15 How is the APR Organized?  Three Parts to APR 1.Instructions – Includes the Six Sections (A-F), Definitions, & Data Checks 2.Reporting Form – Includes the Six Sections (A-F) & Data Checks 3.GPRA 1 Documentation Appendix

Solve the DSI Case  DSI Case #1 Project X is accused of not having made substantial progress in the budget year. It is your job to find & record the clues in their APR and determine if that is true or not.  Use your data sources to solve the case, i.e., determine a resolution, and recommend a sentence to the OME judge.  DSI Case #2 Project Y is accused of not having made substantial progress in the budget year. It is your job to find & record the clues in their APR and determine if that is true or not.  Use your data sources to solve the case, i.e., determine a resolution, and recommend a sentence to the OME judge.

17 Review CSU Bakersfield is guilty. CSU Fresno is innocent.

18 Sentence  Is Project X guilty or innocent? In other words, do they need to submit an improvement plan or not?
