The Urinary System By Robert, Jose, and Quinn.

The Kidneys  The kidneys make sure that your blood has enough vitamins and minerals.  Each kidney has millions of urine- making units called nephrons.

The Kidneys cont. The nephrons clean your blood in 45 minutes Blood passes through the kidneys 300 times a day If both kidneys fail, people can use a dialysis machine

The Bladder The Bladder The Bladder Holds the urine made by the Kidneys The Bladder Holds the urine made by the Kidneys The Bladder is the last part of the urinary system The Bladder is the last part of the urinary system The bottom of the bladder is called the urethra, where the wastes exit the body The bottom of the bladder is called the urethra, where the wastes exit the body

The Liver and the skin There are two other types of organs: the skin and the liver There are two other types of organs: the skin and the liver The skin sweats out some wastes The skin sweats out some wastes The skin is the largest organ in the urinary system because it covers the whole body The skin is the largest organ in the urinary system because it covers the whole body

The Liver and skin cont. The liver, like the kidneys, Also cleans the blood for it’s part in the system The average liver cleans about 1.5 quarts per minute. That is about 540 gallons a day, or 13 million gallons a life time

Comparison The Urinary System Gets rid of wastes, and cleans the blood Has organs including the liver, the urethra, the urethers, the bladder, the kidneys, and the skin The Circulatory System Sends the blood to its next place Has the heart, Veins, arteries, and last, but not least, capillaries Provides blood for the whole body
