What are Ethics?

 Ethics are the rules of behavior that govern a group or a society. Employees who exhibit ethical behavior in the workplace are honest and fair. They do NOT lie, cheat, or steal.

Qualities employers look for in an employee are:

1. Cooperation 2. Respect 3. Teamwork 4. Ability to work well with others

The three most common learning styles are:

1. Auditory – learn best by hearing information 2. Visual – learn best by seeing information 3. Tactile or Kinesthetic – learn best by hands-on.

What is a job specific skill?

 A job-specific skill is a skill necessary for a particular job. For example: if your career involves computers- you need to know specific computer programs to do your job

What is a transferable skill?

Transferable skills are general skills used in school and various jobs. Some common transferable skills are: Listening skills Communication skills Problem –Solving Skills Social Skills Adaptability Skills

Why is it important to develop transferable skills?

 Transferable skills are required in ALL careers!!!!

What is initiative?

Initiative is doing what needs to be done without being told. Employers LOVE this quality in employees.

What is community service?

Community Service is volunteer work that benefits the community. Examples: visiting the elderly Habitat for Humanity

Why do employers consider community service important?

It demonstrates the volunteer has good character and commitment.

What is body language?

Body language is gestures, posture, and eye-contact one uses to express oneself.
