Our Mission Prayer FATHER OF LIGHT, / YOUR PRECIOUS PEOPLE / LIFT OUR HANDS IN THANKSGIVING / AS WE HEED YOUR CALL / TO INTEGRATE OURSELVES, / WITH EAGERNESS IN OUR HEARTS THROUGH FAITH, / INTO THE LIFE AND MISSION / IN YOUR BELOVED ARCHDIOCESE OF NEWARK PARISHES. /

LORD JESUS, / IN YOUR NAME, / WE SET OURSELVES TO BEGIN THE TASK. / NURTURE OUR HEARTS AND CREATE IN US / A CLEAR AWARENESS OF YOUR DIVINE GOODNESS / AND OUR OWN UNWORTHINESS. / HELP US TO TURN AWAY / FROM OUR SINFUL WAYS. / LET US HEAR THE WISDOM IN YOUR WORD / THAT IT MAY COME ALIVE AND TRANSFORM US / TO LIVE BY IT PROFOUNDLY / AS WE LOVINGLY SHARE THE GIFTS / YOU HAVE FREELY GIVEN / FOR THE GOOD OF OUR BRETHREN IN NEWARK. Our Mission Prayer

LORD GOD, / BY OUR OWN POWER, / WE CANNOT CARRY ON / THE TASKS AHEAD OF US. / WE IMPLORE YOUR GRACE / TO GUIDE US ALL ALONG OUR JOURNEY. / LET YOUR MERCY AND COMPASSION / ALWAYS ACCOMPANY US, / AS WE PLACE OUR NEEDS AND THE NEEDS OF ALL / IN YOUR GLORIOUS CARE. / MAKE US BEAR GOOD FRUITS / FOR YOUR KINGDOM IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH. / Our Mission Prayer

HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD, / ILLUMINE OUR MINDS, / THAT WE MAY SPEAK ONLY WITH LOVE AND COMPASSION. / IMPART IN US YOUR GIFT OF WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE, / THAT WE MAY ALWAYS BE DIRECTED ON WHAT IS BEST TO DO. / INSPIRE US WITH YOUR GIFT OF COUNSEL, / THAT WE MAY BE EVER CONFIRMED IN ACTING RIGHTLY IN YOUR NAME. / ENABLE US TO RESPOND IN FAITH AND HOPE IN YOUR LOVING CARE / WHEN TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS / THREATEN TO OVERWHELM US. / GRANT US PERSEVERANCE, COURAGE AND CALMNESS / IN THE FACE OF FEAR. / Our Mission Prayer

MARY, OUR MOTHER, / LOOK KINDLY UPON US, / AS WE SEEK YOUR MIGHTY INTERCESSION / TO YOUR SON JESUS. / GRANT US YOUR GRACE AND GUIDANCE / NOT ONLY TO FELLOWSHIP WITH ONE ANOTHER IN COMMUNITY / BUT ALSO TO SERVE AND FIRMLY ROOT OURSELVES / IN THE LOCAL CHURCHES IN NEWARK. / OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN, / WE ASK ALL THESE / IN THE NAME OF YOUR SON JESUS, / AND BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, / ONE GOD FOR EVER AND EVER. / AMEN! / Our Mission Prayer

What Change Was Introduced? On June 3, 2003, the Most Reverend John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark established the community as a Private Lay Association of the Faithful, meaning that as lay organization we are to serve in the life and mission of the local churches in diocese.

Current Situation Community mission is short in meeting the requirements of a Private Lay Association.

Community Overall Mission “To grow in an ever-deepening love relationship with the Lord Jesus as we love, upbuild, and serve one another in love, joy, peace, and unity in community”. It stresses communion more than mission.

Shift In Direction On December 30, 2004; 18 months after the establishment as a Private Lay Association of the Faithful, the DCS designated a Task Force to review and promulgate plans to integrate community into the life and mission in the local churches of Newark.

THE PROPOSAL THE PROPOSAL

Scriptural Foundation

Order “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.” (Mk 16:15)

Directions 1. Be My witness to all to what you have seen and heard. 2. Focus on the Lord. 3. Follow the Lord. 4. Be fertile and multiply. Use your giftedness and share your gifts with others. 5. When trials threaten to overwhelm us, respond with faith and hope in God’s loving care and presence. 6. Look to the Lord for strength and help. 7. Don’t give in to fear on the tasks at hand, take courage and be calm because God is with us, ready to help us in our needs. 8. Continue serving with eagerness thru faith and patience. 9. Seek God’s word; pray that you will be heard to achieve God’s will. 10. Do not lord it over those assigned to you, but be examples.

Implementation Road Map

Proposed Execution Of the Mission Prayer To facilitate our Plan of Action, as a Private Lay Association of the Faithful getting ready to set out to integrate into the life and mission in the Archdiocese of Newark Parishes, let us unite in prayerful discernment from March 20, 2005 (Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion) to May 15, 2005 (Pentecost Sunday) to set in motion our proposed program of implementation.

Plan of Action a.Identify BLD members who are active in their respective parishes. b.Identify assignments/workloads of members. c.Distribute loads equitably to covenanted and committed members. d.Enjoin members to know job description of a given task to ensure effective delegation of functions and avoid burnout. e.Review and adjust structure, if needed, for proper and religious implementation of plans and functions. 1.BLD
