5th FARGIS User Conference, 7-8 march 2000 Sailing Conditions for high-speed vessels Dangerous Areas Last February Fosen Trafikklag experienced an accident where a window on one of our high speed vessels were broken from an unexpected wave in one of the areas identifyed as a ”dangerous” area.
5th FARGIS User Conference, 7-8 march 2000 Sailing Conditions for high-speed vessels Then, what can Fosen Trafikklag do? Firstly, Fosen Trafikklag must provide safe, reliable and comfortable transport. Secondly, the sailing regulations give restrictions for operations related to the weather conditions (the speed should be adjusted in accordance with the wave hight). Thirdly, Fosen Trafikklag as a serious operator must ensure that it operates within the given restrictions. Then Fosen Trafikklag is looking for means of support which can help meeting the requirements, ie. tools which can help making decissions related to the transport. Which means that we in this context are looking for reliable weather forecasts, information about sailing conditions (waves, wind, currents..) and support to evaluate the comfort level.
