Course Intro English Writing 3 /ufpadata/

Welcome back to school Instructor: – HUANG, Shih-Jen ( 黃士人 ), Ph.D. – Office: – North 204, ext – Dept office, ext. 3260

What do we write? essaysparagraphssentences

You are expected to be able to write... Well-organized and expressive essays. Three major types of essays Argumentative essays Comparison/contrast essays Cause-effect essays

Grading 100% writing assignments

To pass or not to pass

Satisfactory class performance means... Attending the class. Paying attention to the class. – Don’t talk (unless I say so) – Don’t sleep (even though I say so) – Don’t use the computer (unless I say so) Turning in your writing assignment on time. – They don’t call it a ‘deadline’ for nothing. – There’s a penalty for late assignments. Maintaining the good quality of the assignment.

What else ? Plagiarism (i.e., copy-and-paste) leads to a ZERO grade of the assignment. Read the assigned reading. No make-up writing for any missed in-class writing, regardless of your excuses.

ANYTHING else ? This is a WRITING class, not a grammar class. – I do NOT correct ALL grammatical errors. Your essay will be used as an example for the purpose of instruction and discussion in class. – Your name and ID will be hidden.

DONE SEE YOU NEXT WEEK.
