P RESIDENT B ARACK O BAMA 2008 Marked the big shift of control from extended conservative era to a more liberal one Barack Obama beat Hillary Clinton in the presidential primaries in spring and summer. He advocated mostly liberal policies like: health care, immigration, education and the environment. He even wanted to remove troops from Iraq. In Presidents Bush’s term the great recession hit in (Banks were in shock, mortgages had to re-set, people faced foreclosure, etc.)

O BAMA ’ S R ESPONSE Republicans proposed the Troubles Asset Relief Program (TARP), which when Obama won in 2008 he agreed to this. Obama also created other plans and acts to help with this issues. (Which he did not get much credit for). American Recovery and Investment Act (ARRA) or known as the Stimulus Plan – It funded social welfare programs. Which wanted to increase jobs, assist people, provide investments, invest in transportation, environmental protection and other economic benefits, and to stabilize state and local government budgets
