Making Soluble Salt Muntaha Tanzila

Navigation Making soluble salt Method 1 : acid + metal Examples of reactions between a metal and an acid: Preparation of Soluble Salt Naming salts Ammonium salts solubility at room temperature for different salts Making salts by reacting an acid with an insoluble base:

Making soluble salt What is salt? Answer :any chemical compound formed from the reaction of an acid with a base, with all or part of the hydrogen of the acid replaced by a metal or other cation.

Method 1 : acid + metal . How this is done . Hydrochloric acid reacts with calcium to form calcium chloride (a salt) and hydrogen gas.

Examples of reactions between a metal and an acid: Hydrochloric acid + magnesium makes……..magnesium chloride +hydrogen Sulphuric acid + calcium makes……calcium sulphate +hydrogen Nitric acid + calcium makes…..calcium nitric +hydrogen . Hydrochloric acid +Lithium makes….. Lithium chloride +hydrogen

Preparation of Soluble Salt

Naming salts The name of the salt produced in a neutralisation reaction can be predicted. The first part of the name is 'ammonium' if the base used is ammonia. Otherwise, it is the name of the metal in the base. The second part of the name comes from the acid used: Chloride (if hydrochloric acid is used) Nitrate (if nitric acid is used) Sulphate (if sulphuric acid is used) The table shows some examples: Acid + Base → Salt + Water Hydrochloric acid Copper oxide Copper chloride + water Sulphuric acid Sodium hydroxide Sodium sulphate + water Nitric acid Calcium hydroxide Calcium nitrate + water

Ammonium salts Many artificial fertilisers are ammonium salts, made by the reaction of an acid with ammonia solution. For example: Acid Alkali Fertiliser Nitric acid Ammonia solution Ammonium nitrate Phosphoric acid Ammonium phosphate Sulphuric acid Ammonium sulphate
