1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul 1 Samuel 24:2 Saul took 3,000 select men from all of Israel and set out to find David and his men in the region of the rocks and mountain goats.

1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul 1 Samuel 24:3 Coming to the sheepfolds by the road, Saul went into a cave to, well, to use the “Little Boy’s Room”.

1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul  The Name of God, represented in Hebrew by the tetragrammaton ("four letters") יהוה (Yod Heh Vav Heh), transliterated into Roman script Y H W H. Because it was considered blasphemous to utter the name of God it was only written and never spoken. This resulted in the original pronunciation being lost. 1 Samuel 24:3-4 Now David and his men were in the recesses of the cave, and his men said to him, 'This is the day about which Yahweh said, "I will put your enemy in your hands, and you can do to him as you please."'

1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul OOPS! 1 Samuel 24:4 David got up and quietly cut the edge off of Saul's robe.

1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul 1 Samuel 24:5-7 Then David said to his men, 'May Yahweh keep me from bringing my hand against him, for he is Yahweh's anointed.' He restrained his men with these words, not allowing them to attack Saul..

1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul 1 Samuel 24:7-8 So Saul left the cave and started down the road. And David left the cave and called out to Saul, 'My lord the king!'

1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul  1 Samuel 24:8-9, 11 Saul looked behind him. David prostrated himself and said to Saul, 'Look, my father, and see the edge of your robe in my hand! When I cut off the edge of your robe, I didn’t kill you. So realize and understand that evil and rebellion are not my plan.'

1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul  1 Samuel 24:16, 20 When David finished saying these words to Saul, Saul said, 'Yahweh put me in your hands, but you did not kill me. Now I realize that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hand.

1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul  1 Samuel 24:21 'So swear to me now in Yahweh's name that you will not kill my descendants or destroy my name from my father's family.'

1 Samuel 24: David Spares Saul  1 Samuel 24:22 Then Saul went back to his house and David to the stronghold.
