Topics for Discussion Business Drivers The Learning Imperative Why eLearning? eLearning Benefits eLearning Pitfalls The Knowbase Approach Samples of Our Work

Business Drivers Across the business landscape, every enterprise is focused on: Increasing market share and revenue Decreasing costs, risks and redundancy To achieve these goals, business must effectively execute strategic and tactical initiatives that are aligned with the objectives of the organization. Successful execution of these goals, whether set by a line of business or by the board of directors, relies on the same foundation: people. Your Business is Changing. How Will Your People Keep Up?

Information Access Today’s workforce must respond more quickly, with greater knowledge, to more complex requirements than ever before. As customer expectations for rapidly available products, processes and information increase, employees at all levels must have access to the information that enables them to perform at the greatest level of optimization. “It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.” -W. Edwards Deming

Why Learning? Access to the right information at the right time is the key to helping employees and organizations thrive in this environment. Most organizations have access to a wealth of information; what’s critical is helping employees navigate to what they need when they need it. An effective training and development program begins by understanding how behavioral change impacts strategic initiatives, and then aligning training to help achieve the initiatives. Once you understand which behaviors need changed, you can begin to design your curriculums.

Why Learning? Access to the right information at the right time is the key to helping employees and organizations thrive in this environment. Training curriculums define which information is critical based upon job roles and prevents information overload. Once training needs have been defined, the focus shifts to creation of targeted learning that affects appropriate behavior change. Measuring success in learning must extend far beyond a measurement of pass and fail on a given test. It requires connecting the learning initiatives with specific outcomes including increases in sales, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, employee retention, risk reduction and more.

Why eLearning? Why are so many companies migrating towards eLearning? Instant access to information is one of the driving factors in today's economy. The key to success is moving knowledge from the people who have it to the people who need it. It’s simple and economical, eLearning delivers more training to more people for the fewest dollars. eLearning saves time, money and resources. It delivers measurable, tangible results.

Why eLearning? eLearning Benefits: Just-in-Time Web-based Training Employees take training at a pace with which they are comfortable, when it is convenient for them – at work, at home or anywhere they have an Internet connection. No more waiting for other employees to figure things out or listening to things they already know. Faster Learning With eLearning, employees will learn up to twice as much in half the time that they would in classroom training. This is because the course progresses as fast as the employee can. Generally, a 4-hour in-class session can be achieved in 1 hour of online training. Consistent Instruction With online training you can deliver a consistent message to every employee at each of your locations. Whereas, with offline training, each instructor has his or her own style, which may or may not be best suited for student learning. Some days the instructor is in top form and delivers a great presentation; others he/she may be tired or simply unmotivated. eLearning provides the same high-quality content every time. Higher Levels of Retention Well-designed eLearning increases retention over instructor-led training by up to 40%, according to the ASTD*. Plus, employees can access the course materials at any time if a refresher is needed.

Why eLearning? eLearning Benefits: Greater Levels of Assessment Assessments need to measure beyond a simple pass/fail. They should indicate which questions more learners struggled with and how long it took learners to complete the test. An effective eLearning solution tracks employee activity in real-time. Metrics and Accountability Courses can be assigned by job role or to individuals. At any time, employees can see which classes they have taken, classes they still need to take, and how they did on their assessments. They can also print out certificates once they meet the requirements. Managers can view an individuals progress or metrics for their whole team. Continuous Improvement By integrating a feedback mechanism into the eLearning solution, course content and assessments can be modified to ensure topic relevancy and to maximize desired comprehension. Simplified Training Management/Compliance Tracking Virtually automate the training process for any given course. Simply import user accounts, establish rules, and assign users to courses. Tracking compliance and preparing reports for audits can be done by accessing the manager view of the solution. Time and Cost Savings With web-based training there is no need to coordinate hundreds of different and conflicting schedules and no need to pay for employee expenses for traveling to a training site.

Why eLearning? eLearning Pitfalls: Some of the most common errors made in designing eLearning solutions include: Not aligning training to strategic initiatives Not identifying critical information requirements (“need to know” versus “want to know”) Designing training programs without behavioral change in mind Using “Build it and they will come” approach Assuming that all content is best delivered via eLearning No ongoing measurement of whether behavior change was achieved No feedback mechanisms

The Knowbase Approach Our Unique Approach: Analyze and define our client’s current learning strategy Ensure strategic alignment Review and define learning curriculum Define a specific plan (from a single module to a corporate learning strategy) Create True Behavioral Change Creating behavioral change requires engaging people and consistent access to new information. Design an awareness campaign including and surveying, and highly interactive learning modules to create workforce behavioral change. Content Creation Process Defined content creation process that involves subject matter experts, identifying critical content pieces that will provide the most leverage for behavior change Develop a pilot, gather feedback, make improvements Robust and Flexible Technology The Knowbase Learning Management System (LMS) currently supports over 500,000 users Web-based – allows access from any browser Easily customizable – look and feel, integration to internal systems The Knowbase LMS and custom content development solution includes built-in assessment and feedback mechanism to ensure continuous improvement.
