The Aquinas arrangements for Transfer will be shared with at least 36 other Grammar Schools across Northern Ireland including non- denominational Grammar Schools.
We are using GL Assessment Procedures in English and Mathematics. GL Assessment have been experts in assessment for over 25 years. The assessment will be based on the KS2 Northern Ireland Curriculum.
GL Assessment organises the setting, marking and standardisation of assessment and will provide a remark if required. One English Assessment of 50 Minutes. One Maths Assessment of 45 Minutes. Multiple Choice answers.
The Assessment Paper has 3 reading passages with 65 questions (50mins). There will be a familiarisation exercise prior to this test (20mins).

Assessment will be held on Saturday 19 th November 2011 in all participating schools. Supplementary paper held on Saturday 10 th December 2011.
Assessment will be held in classrooms. Pupils may sit the assessment in any of the participating schools in the consortium – this does not have to be the school of choice for transfer. It is hoped that pupils will wear Primary School uniforms and be grouped with peers. Irish Language Students will be clustered in centres with supervisors who are Irish speaking. St Dominic’s is the Belfast centre for all Irish applicants.
Forms may be obtained from Aquinas Website, by post or you may pick up a registration pack tonight. A guide for parents will accompany the Registration Form. An original Birth Certificate and passport size photograph of child will be required with the registration form. Preference of Assessment Centre should be stated. Include any Special Access arrangements or Special Educational Needs of the child. No costs for applicants. Registration Forms should be returned to the preferred Assessment Centre by 23rd September 2011.
School Centre opens at 8.45am. Parents are asked not to enter the building as per previous transfer arrangements. A member of staff or a prefect will greet children and bring them to allocated areas. Pencils and erasers etc. will be provided by school. Answer sheets are pre-printed with pupils’ personal details. There will be a 20minute break mid-morning.
This will be administered by the ELBs/ESA. The Transfer Form will be completed after consultation with Primary School Principal. Schools should be nominated in order of preference. Schools select against published criteria. ELB sends letter to parents in late May stating the School to which the pupil has been admitted.
