Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. ~Helen Keller

YOU! Culture/Heritage Family Likes/Dislikes Attitude Religion Talents Beliefs FriendsChoices Experiences Knowledge

WHY IS DIVERSITY IMPORTANT? *3tablespoons margarine or butter *1package (10 oz.) regular marshmallows *6cups KELLOGG'S® RICE KRISPIES® cereal

How do you handle diversity? Shunning Tolerating Celebrating!

We all learn differently: Linguistic- reading, writing, telling stories Logical- logic, patterns Kinesthetic- touching, body Spatial- images, pictures Musical- sound, rhythm Interpersonal- interaction with others Intrapersonal- through own feelings

We all see differently:

We all have different styles, traits, and characteristics: Personality Quiz Time!

A fruit salad is delicious Precisely because each fruit maintains its own flavor.

You were born an original, don’t become someone else’s copy. ~anon.

The giant Redwoods, or sequoia trees, can reach heights of over 300 ft. They grow in clumps and share a vast array of intermingled roots. Without each other, they would blow over in a storm.

3 Roadblocks to Synergy: Ignorance Cliques Prejudice

Habit 6 Synergize Open-mindedness. Teamwork. New ways to do things. Work together to achieve more. Celebrate differences.

HABIT 7 SHARPEN THE SAW

HABIT 7 This is the analogy of a woodcutter who is sawing for several days straight and is becoming less and less productive.. The process of cutting dulls the blade. So the solution is to periodically sharpen the saw.

HABIT 7 Teens should never get too busy living to take time to renew themselves. When a teen "sharpens the saw" she is keeping her personal self sharp so that she can better deal with life.

Habit 7Sharpen the Saw Continuous self-renewal and self- improvement in: your brain your heart your body your soul
