Hip Replacement Surgery  The hip is the joint that connects the thigh bone (the femur) to the pelvis. In recent years, total hip replacement has become a very common operation with over operations carried out world-wide every year.  Hip replacement is an operation to replace a natural hip joint with an artificial hip one.  It is a common procedure and effectively relives pain and restores mobility.  The replacement joint is an artificial version of the natural ball and sockets.

Continue  The lower part of the artificial hip joint is usually made of metal and consists of a shaft with the ball part of the joint at the top.

Continue  The main objective of this part of the project, is the development of solid model (CAD model) for the total replacement hip replacement surgery, which is one step for finite-element model development and for further analysis.

Conclusion & Suggestions  Although it is able to obtain the solid model and pre-processing the solid model for finite-element model development, it was reported the difficulty in run the computational analysis due to hardware problem. Where huge amount of memory required and also required more stable operating system for accurate and stable finite-element computation procedure.  It is suggested to run the computational analysis on more stable operating system like UNIX or Linux operating system with large memory system.
