A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Going Green, Saving Money and all that!

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Air Sourced Heating Energy We think that this type of heating has the most potential for installation across the general housing stock. We have fitted this in 35 properties so far, with another 180 to be fitted next year.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Air Sourced Heating Energy So what is this new type of heating? Two short videos will help explain this better than I.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Air Sourced Heating - 40 homes at Worsborough

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities 2 Greno View, Hood Green This was the first type of this unit fitted in the loft. By keeping all parts within the property security issues are dealt with. Insulation of the roof void is important.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities 10 Air Source Athersley North These units have been installed in family homes. We have also designed the units to be fitted into the roof as well as gable end. The scheme has proved that Air Source Heating can meet the demand of a family home. This type of heating saves money for every KW of energy purchased 3KW of energy is produced to heat and hot water.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Ground Sourced Heating Energy So far we have only fitted one of these installations at Thurgoland. After Christmas we will be converting 5 district heating schemes to work this way It works like this.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities A mixture of water and anti-freeze is pumped around the ground loop and absorbs the naturally occurring heat stored in the ground. The process is similar to that used to cool a fridge, but in reverse. The Pump takes the heat from the water mixture, transfers it to your domestic heating system and increases the temperature in the process. A ground source heat pump increases the temperature from the ground by between 1.5 and 4 times – so if the ground temperature is 12°C, the output would be between 18 and 48°C). This heat can then be used in a radiator and hot water system

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities 12a Churchfields, Thurgoland G round Source heating installation which relies on heating coil being fitted into ground at a depth of 75mts via Drilling Rig. Whilst this is very efficient due to constant ground temps, install costs are high. Land availability on existing houses can also be difficult.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Biomass Biomass – This is the burning of non fossil fuels like wood, wood pellets or wood chip to heat properties.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Biomass We think it is highly suitable for our district heating schemes and so far 3 run on this. We are currently converting 4 more. We don’t think it is suitable for individual homes because it needs looking after and is not instant heat.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Sheffield Road Flats A block of 3 Flats dwellings in total which were the first Biomass installation in Barnsley. This replaced old coal fired boilerhouses and typically saves 780 tons CO2 per year. Installed 2005/6 Fuel type Willow which is chipped and harvested every 3 yrs. Sustainable Energy.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Milefield Court The latest installation of Biomass Boilers is at a Dist Heating scheme in Grimethorpe. This site has heat meters and the works were completed Feb The site has 60 bungalows and 18 flats. Biomass replaced coal fired boilers which were inefficient & caused dirt problems for the area.

A fresh approach to people, homes and communities Table Top Discussion – Air Sourced Heating Do you think this is a good idea? What do you think about having this your home? What sort of practical difficulties or customer resistance we might experience if we only fitted this type of heating.
