Social Networking is where people interact with others by sharing and talking about each others personal lives. Using a mix of personal pictures, words, videos and audio. On these websites people engage in conversations and exchange information. There are many forms of social networking. Such as Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr, RordPress, Blogger, Typepad, LiveJournal, Wikepedia, wetpaint, and Tumblr. WHERE PEOPLE INTERACT FREELY, SHARING AND DISCUSSING INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR LIVES.
Dial-up was the first technology known. It dominated the field through the 1980’s and remained a major player until the mid- 1990’s. In 1984 the Prodigy online service was introduced. It grew to be the second biggest on line service provider in In1972 the fist was sent. In 1985 AOL service opened. In 1998 Google opened as a major internet search engine. In 2003 MySpace was launched. Apple also introduced the online music service iTunes. Facebook was created in 2004 for students at Harvard. In 2006 MySpace was the most popular social networking site in the U.S Twitter was launched as a social networking and micro blogging site, enabling members to send and receive 140- character message called tweets. Google had more than 25 billion web pages, 400 million queries per day, 1.3 billion images and more than a billion UseNet messages
Facebook surpassed MySpace in the total number of monthly unique visitors. Meanwhile, Facebook tried unsuccessfully to buy Twitter. Bebo was purchased by AOL. Later, AOL would re-sell the relaticely-unsiccessful social media site. Facebook ranked as the most-used social network worldwide with more than 200 million. The site’s traffic was twice that of MySpace in in 2010 the democratic national committee advertised for a social networks manager to over see President Barack Obama’s accounts on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. The Internet had surpassed newspapers as a primary way for Americans to get news. In 2012 Facebook reached a billion users. Apple closed the ping social network and improved iTunes
Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook in his Harvard dorm room. Mark said that he was inspired to make Facebook from the incident of face mash. Six days after Facebook was launched three Harvard seniors accused Mark on misleading them to believe that he would help them build a social networking site called HarvardConnection.combut he used there ideas instead. Facebook has over one billion users and half of them use Facebook mobile. FACEBOOK
Twitter was inspired by Flickr. The dictionary definition of twitter is “a short burst of inconsequential information.” Almost 200 million users world wide and 460,000 new Twitter accounts are made a day. There are more than 140 million tweets sent daily. In 2008 twitter had eight employees today it has more than 400. Tweets are limited to 149 characters in length, maximum. Why? Because 160 characters was the SMS carrier limit and the founders wanted to leave room for a username. Twitter is said to be worth more than $4.5 billion. Most followed twitter accounts: -Lady Gaga 8.9 million followers -Justin Bieber 8.2 million -Britney Spears million -Batack Obama 7.0 milion -Kim Kardashian 6.8 million TWITTER

Tumblr was launched on April 27 th 2007 by David Karp. With in two weeks of is launch the service had gained 75,000 users. In early June 2012, Tumblr featured its first major brand advertising campaign in conjunction with adidas. As of July 2010, the site got 25,000 new users each day. An online photo sharing service than enables its useres to take a picture, apply a digital Filter to it, and share it on a variety of social networking services, It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Kriegerr and launched in October The service rapidly gained popularity, with over 100million users as of September On December 17, 2012, Instagram updated its Terms of Service to allow Instagram the right to sell users' photos to third parties without notification or compensation after January 16, 2013 In January 2011, Instagram added hash tag to help users find both photographs and friends. Rather than tagging generic words like "photo" in order to make photographs stand out and to use more descriptive words INSTAGRAM
