Agenda Overview  Review G8/20 Aviation Planning  Committee Planning (FATWG/FASC)  Information Dissemination  Publications  Airspace Overview/Operating Rules and Procedures  R&FA Procedures  Town Hall Presentation Schedule  NORAD Intercept Protocols

Aviation Planning  Lead Planner assigned July 2009 to ISU  Partner Agencies contacted and FATWG formed  Initial Airspace design conceived August 2009 (G8)  Modifications made based on geography/addition of G20  Full aviation planning team formed at ISU (RCMP/CF)  Time constraints?

FATWG  Federal Aviation Technical Working Group  Multi-agency working group chaired by RCMP  Reports to Federal Aviation Steering Committee (FASC)  Responsible for all aspects of aviation security/defence  Partners include: CF, NORAD, NAV CANADA, TC, FAA, Interest groups as required  Monthly meetings have taken place since June 2009  Lessons learned utilized from Olympic experience

FASC  Federal Aviation Steering Committee  Multi-agency decision group co-chaired by RCMP/TC  Provides oversight of FATWG  Supervisor level for all agencies represented in FATWG  Provide guidance/advice where required

Olympic Games Lessons Learned  Communication is the key to success  Information needs to get to ALL operators  Rules and Procedures need to be clear  Town Hall Presentations are extremely important  Consistency vital  Security vs. Defence

Publication Schedule  AIP Supplement released May 6  2 nd AIP or mail out to be done prior to event  Updates to be placed on ISU website as required  Existing YYZ VTA to be utilized

30 NM Ring Operations  Constant Communication with ATC  Discreet Transponder Code (Mode C)  Point to point filed flight plan (London FIC)

15 NM Ring Procedures N No ultra-light or gliding operations No hang gliding or parachuting No aerobatic flight No hot air balloons or dirigibles No agricultural operations No sight seeing flights No aerial advertising or banner tow operations No Unmanned Air Vehicles No flight training No GA with the exception of current residents or authorized arrival/departures from YYZ only

Security Rules and Procedures  Rules based on previous G8/20 protocols  International standard of protection  Strictly a security event  Restrictions in place for short period of time  Every attempt will be made to continue most operations

Registration and Flight Authorization  Based on Olympic Model  Registration of Pilots and Crews for all Essential Services  Registration of CAR604/FAR91 Operators  Will work in conjunction with GTAA slot system  Will provide link to ASOCC for aircraft  Approval for access to 15NM ring  Protocols to be in mail out/AIP Supp

Town Hall Presentations  Presentations will begin in first week of June  Association input is critical  Airspace procedures including intercept procedures  RCMP, TC, NAV CANADA & NORAD will brief  Locations and meeting rooms; “no room too small”
