Technology Planning Little Creek Elementary School

How can we strengthen our current plan to be the best? There are 5 important rules to remember when working on a technology plan. Technology Planning

Efficient technology programs The plan must have clear goals and have a realistic strategy for using technology to improve education or library services. What does this mean for us? We must outline our plans and set realistic goals to implement a new program into the schools. Apple Technology Planning Guide is available to assess our current situation and help us find out where to go from there. Apple - Education - Technology Planning GuideApple - Education - Technology Planning Guide

On the track to new technology! The plan must include a development strategy to instruct teachers on how to make the best of the new services. In services and workshops can be provided to help the teachers teach the kids about all of this new technology available to them.

Only the best This plan must provide some type of assessment for the hardware, software and other services that will be used to keep it running. You mean like testing? Basically yes. All of the programs and software used will need to be reviewed and assessed for effectiveness and appropriateness. We want only the best for our program.

$ MONEY MONEY MONEY $ A sufficient budget must be set aside to allow us to acquire the hardware, software, faculty training, and other support that this program will demand. Not only will money be needed to launch this but to help it stay competitive to other districts over the years.

How do we know if it’s working? There must be an evaluation process to help the school monitor success with the new program. The plan will need to be updated and re-updated as time goes on. This will call for an evaluation of the programs already in place. Are they working for us?

All in all.. If we want the program in our district that we say we want, we will need to work together to accomplish the 5 basic goals. Technology Planning

Technology Planning Resources Other technology planning resources: * Your Fingertips from the National Center for Education Statistics describes a process for getting the best possible technology solution for your organization. At this site you will find the steps you should take to identify your technology needs, consider your options, acquire the technology, and implement a technology solution that will serve you today and provide a foundation for your organization’s technology in the future. * Developing a School or District Technology Plan from the North Central Regional Technology in Education Consortium. * Education Leadership Toolkit - Change and Technology in America's Schools: A free, online technology resource for school board members. This is a project of the National School Boards Foundation implemented by NSBA's Institute for the Transfer of Technology to Education with a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Technology Assessment Resources Other technology assessment resources: * Learning With Technology Profile Tool from North Central Regional Technology in Education Consortium - This profile tool will help you to compare your current instructional practices with a set of indicators for engaged learning and high-performance technology. For each category, there is a description of the indicators and examples that fall along a continuum. There are three examples for each indicator. * Training Needs Assessment Survey - Posted by Wawasee, IN schools. At the end of this assessment, please do not click on the "Submit This Form" button, unless you are an administrator at a school in Wawasee. * Fort McMurray Catholic School District in Alberta, Canada has a technology self-assessment - Judge your level of achievement in each of thirteen competencies. Choose the number which best reflects your current level of skill attainment. (Be honest, but be kind.) This tool is designed to help understand your current level of skills with computer technologies and to plan for professional development.
