History and historical figures. Learn more about the political system and the Dutch people. Getting familiar with the weather, geography and landscapes of the Netherlands and Delft. I Delft & The Netherlands

II Meeting new people Get to know other cultures Feel comfortable and motivated to study Engineers are also expected to possess social skills Networking is vital for your studies/career Deal with loneliness and homesickness Friends could help you with your problems

III Getting around

aa a III Fun & Entertainment

For students to start their studies smoothly at least a basic understanding of the academic system is essential. Information to help students understand the Dutch/European grading and examination system. Useful information such as hours expected to be devoted to study. V Academic Facts

VI Language & Culture Culture and language go hand-in-hand Cultural knowledge helps shape expectations Took on this objective given my Dutch background Some knowledge upfront may ease ‘culture shock’

VII Get connected Mobile phone With a phone  SIM-only or pre-paid SIM Without a phone  Contract phone Internet In DUWO housing an Ethernet cable bring one! Wireless Web key On campus Eduroam using NetID

Process Setting objectives Pοsing the questions Identifying the restrictions Forming the idea Agreeing upon objectives/tasks Ok! Let’s do that!

Reflections Observations Open nature  difficult to define the scope, product and direction Useful exercise for multi-cultural and team work AND Project itself helped us acclimatise! What worked well Defined the scope and expectation early on Limited time, only the design and content of the app and not finished product. Punctuality and cooperation of all team members Set reachable goals to be accomplished (for each team member at the end of each meeting) Multi-cultural input was very handy

Reflections What we can improve upon Integrate late-comer Working in a multi-cultural team People with different personalities, societal behaviors What is considered the norm? Conclusion Satisfied with the results Content can easily be turned into an App Scalable
