WEB2.0 Blog, Blogger, Facebook Gmail calendar Joomla Agenda

Commonly associated with web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperability, user- centered design and collaboration on the World Wide Web; Social software; Gives its users the free choice to interact or collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators of user- generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where users (consumer) are limited to the passive viewing of content that was created for them; E.g. Social-networking sites, blogs, wikis, video-sharing sites, hosted services, web applications; WEB 2.0

The web is no longer just about finding information, but also having the ability to influence it from a social perspective; Web 1.0 was about reading, advertising, companies, encyclopedias, home pages; While Web 2.0 is about opinion, writing, word of mouth, communities, wikipedias and blogs; WEB 2.0

Blog A blend of the term web log; Simply Web pages with reverse chronologically arranged individual posts; Most blogs are interactive, allowing visitors to leave comments and even message each other;

Blog - advantages Share ideas, opinions, news, photos, links, data; Manage your information: consolidate files, documents, links in one place; Manage teams and/or group projects: collaboration, communication of tasks, opportunity for feedback;

Blog - RSS Feeds Rich Site Summary (Website updating); Really Simple Syndication; Synonyms: newsfeed, RSS-Feed; Data format used for providing users with frequently updated content; Content distributors syndicate a web feed, thereby allowing users to subscribe to it; Common web feed icon:

Blog - RSS Feeds

Blog - disadvantages Like practically everything else on the Web, blogs are easy to start and hard to maintain; Far from blogs being a cheap strategy, they are a very expensive one, in that they eat up time; By not updating it, you are damaging rather than enhancing your reputation; There is no confidentiality as it is a public forum; It can no way be related to conversation, as there is always a time gap in the replies received;

Blogger Free service for Web publishing; Site type – Blog Host; Available in 50 languages; Very popular (over ranking sites like myspace and twitter); Belongs to Google ; The most used application for blogs;

Blogger - advantages Easy to install, use and customize; Free hosting; Can be used from your mobile phone; You can make your blog private; You can add advertisement notices (Google Ads); Google adds your blog to the blog directory; You can make a back-up of your blog on your own PC; You can customize you blog by adding widgets;

Blogger - disadvantages Google has the authority to close your blog; CSS and HTML knowledge is needed for adding certain options; Limited number of free templates; You cannot import blogs from other platforms; In order to create a blog you need to have a Gmail account; Fewer gadgets and plug-ins comparing to its competitors;

Facebook Social network service and website launched in February 2004; As of July 2010 Facebook has more than 500 million active users (meaning one person for every fourteen in the world); Create personal profile, add other users as friends and exchange messages; automatic notification for profile updates; Users may join common interest user groups, organized by workplace, school, or college, or other characteristics;

Facebook Group vs Facebook Fan Page: What’s Better? Unlike groups, fan pages are visible to unregistered people and are thus indexed (important for reputation management, for example); Unlike pages, groups allow to send out “bulk invite” (you can easily invite all your friends to join the group while with pages you will be forced to drop some invites manually). Groups are thus better for viral marketing, meaning that any group member can also send bulk invites to the friends of his; Pages are generally better for a long-term relationships with your fans, readers or customers; Groups are generally better for hosting a (quick) active discussion and attracting quick attention.

Facebook Group vs Facebook Fan Page: What’s Better?

How to Sync Facebook Events with Google Calendar We’re all well aware of the many web tools that exist to help us make ourselves more social, efficient, effective, etc — Facebook being one of the many; Well, for those out there who use Google and Facebook to manage events and calendaring, here’s another how-to that might not only make your busy lives a little less complicated, but will relieve you of the pain of having to keep up between multiple calendars;

How to Sync Facebook Events with Google Calendar Login to Facebook  Events  Export Events; Make sure you keep the address of the URL to yourself, lest everyone have access to your Facebook events; Log into Google Calendar and choose “Add” under “Other calendars.” Then choose “Add by URL”; Paste the URL you copied from Facebook and click “Add”; Voila, you’re done! Your Google calendar will now update automatically every time you accept or decline an event in Facebook. Enjoy being even more organized!

Joomla Joomla! is a free and open source award-winning content management system (CMS) for publishing content on the World Wide Web and intranets; Joomla! can be installed manually from source code on a system running a web server which supports PHP applications, from a package management system; There are numerous web hosting companies who provide a control panel which automates the deployment of a basic Joomla! web site;

Joomla - advantages

Joomla - disadvantages

My opinion For beginners I recommend Blogs or Facebook pages; It’s more useful to work safe and fast than slow and heavy; The shortest way is the way you know, so follow it;
