Pictures of the sights in Tampere according to the five senses Sara Heininen ENA6 Kevät 2015

One of the most important landmarks of Tampere is Tammerkoski. This picture was taken on a bridge called Patosilta, where you can hear the water splashing down. It looks and sounds almost like a big waterfall.

One of the many churches in Tampere, Tuomiokirkko is located near our school. It’s an old church that hosts many – mainly religious – events, and there you can see lots of beautiful paintings. Consequently, Tuomiokirkko is known for the several pieces of art covering its walls.

Tallipiha (”stableyard”) is a place in Tampere where you can buy handmade goods such as chocolate or jewelry. There are also lots of cafes in Tallipiha, and in the summer you can find horses, sheep and other animals there. Because of all the animals, cafes and chocolates, there is a very special smell in Tallipiha.

Kauppahalli is an indoor marketplace in Tampere. It’s a big place where you can buy almost any kind of food; meat, vegetables, fish, salad, soup, bread and other baked goods, spices and Japanese food are all available, among other things. In the cafes of Kauppahalli you can taste various things while meeting new people, since there are almost always people there during the daytime.

Näsinneula is a very high tower situated near the center of Tampere. It is located in the amusementpark Särkänniemi. In Näsinneula you can find things such as an aquarium, a restaurant and a planetarium. Remember that you shouldn’t touch the ”needle” on top of the tower; it’s very sharp!
