Towards Strengthening Procurement and Logistics Management System for the Ministry of Health and Bangladesh June 20, 2011

 USAID/Bangladesh requested the assistance of the Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS) program, implemented by Management Sciences for Health (MSH),  to address supply chain management issues related to reproductive health commodities, specifically  supporting the government of Bangladesh and other key national stakeholders to improve procurement of reproductive health commodities in the country,  to strengthen the distribution systems and management information systems in place, and  to build local capacity to strengthen health systems - To provide technical assistance to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) & MOHFW SPS-Bangladesh Program

DGFP Supply Chain Information Portal A Central Portal for DGFP Tools The DGFP Supply Chain Information Portal is a website developed by the Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS) Program with support of the USAID for the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP). There are 4 (four) major blocks In the portal – A. Procurement Tracker B. LMIS C. Stock Status Report D. Operational Status of Tools

DGFP Supply Chain Information Portal A.Procurement Tracker Web-based tool to monitor status of DGFP procurement packages Shows dashboards on status of 3 consecutive years of procurement activity Drills down for detailed information on progress of procurement packages and SMS alerts Facilitates efficient and effective procurement management Promotes transparency Secure site with encrypted data transfer

DGFP Supply Chain Information Portal B. Logistics Management Information System (LMIS) Central repository for DGFP logistics data Provides stock status data for all levels of the supply chain Provides data on consumption of RH commodities Facilitates supply planning at the warehouse Facilitate stock management decision making Facilitate monitoring of the supply chain

Updates Warehouse Inventory Management System (WIMS) software at 21 regional warehouses of DGFP for store management Upazila Inventory Management System (UIMS) software at 124 upazila family planning stores for stock management UIMS to be introduced in 100 new upazila family planning stores in Already trained 21 upazilas. Initial review of patient registration process and drug management system at Dhaka Medical College Reviewed of regional warehouses for the purpose of establishing a computerized record keeping system

MIS Tools in progress Web based database accessible to Ministry, Line Directors, Drug Administration & CMSD with oversight review by Drug Administration Product list with specification accessible to all stakeholders Authorized persons to update & lookup specs from database Pharmaceutical companies to register against the database A.Product Catalog for MOHFW
