What is Chemistry? The study of matter The study of living organisms. The study of living organisms. The study of the stars and planetsThe study of the stars and planets

Chemistry is… You will learn about the physical and chemical properties of matter this year. You will also learn about the atom, the Periodic Table and a lot about the elements in the Periodic Table.

What is Physics? The study of motion and energy of matterThe study of motion and energy of matter The study of the metric systemThe study of the metric system The study of weather

Physics is… You will learn the differences between speed, velocity and acceleration. You will learn about forces (like friction, gravity and elasticity). You will learn a lot about the contributions of Isaac Newton.

What type of notebook do you need for Science Class? Interactive – Marble composition/120 pagesInteractive – Marble composition/120 pages Spiral notebook/120 pagesSpiral notebook/120 pages Three ring binder with paperThree ring binder with paper

What types of textbooks will you have? Physical Science Textbook and a Properties of Matter lab book.Physical Science Textbook and a Properties of Matter lab book. Physical Science Textbook Properties of Matter lab book

More information about question 6 You will always have two resources for science class – a textbook and a lab book. You will be able to keep both books at home and use a class set in class. Do not loose these books – you must return them at the end of the year. Put your name in both books.

What major project will you have in 8 th grade Science? Create an Element Book Create a Solar System Design an experiment with three variables.Design an experiment with three variables.

More information about question 7 In the third marking period you will create a book about the elements. You will get a chance to learn about the properties of many elements and have fun at the same time.

How much homework will you have in 8 th grade science? Usually M-Th, 10 – 30 minutesUsually M-Th, 10 – 30 minutes Every night – an hour at least!Every night – an hour at least! Only on weekends – plan on three hoursOnly on weekends – plan on three hours
