What is a Dinoflagellate Dinoflagellates are microscopic, usually unicellular, flagellated often photosynthetic protists commonly known as algae. The dinoflagellates are a large group of flagellate protists. Most are marine plankton, but they are common in fresh water habitats as well. Their populations are distributed depending on temperature, salinity, or depth. Dinoflagellates are microscopic, usually unicellular, flagellated often photosynthetic protists commonly known as algae. The dinoflagellates are a large group of flagellate protists. Most are marine plankton, but they are common in fresh water habitats as well. Their populations are distributed depending on temperature, salinity, or depth.

Facts : Dinoflagellates are single cells protits that have 2 flagella. Most dinoflagellatesare found near the surface of the ocean. Dinoflagellates are classified as Gonyaulaw. Dinoflagellates are also able to take in food. Dinoflagellates walls are mad up of celluose.

Harmful facts : D inoflagellates glow in the night and the name of the flagella that glows in the night is Noctiluca. Many dinoflagellates cause a red and a brown tide. W hen the ocean warms up it makes the flagella produce the red tide.
