Psalm 100  For what were the pilgrims thankful?  For what are you thankful?  For what SHOULD we be thankful?

I led you out o  The 100 th Psalm was written for the people of Israel. God said to them, “When you come into the promised land & settle down in your warm homes, and you have plenty to eat, don’t forget ME. I led you out of the wilderness. I brought you into a land flowing with milk and honey. People needed a reminder. Usually so do we.

5 Thanksgiving commands…  1.”Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth”  Hb: Shout with the force of a trumpet blast.

Second command…  “Serve the Lord with gladness”  Mt 25:35-40  Serve without applause or appreciation.

Third command  “Come before Him with joyful songs”  Ps 98:4; Ps 33:3; Col 3:6; Jm 5:13 – “sing to the Lord; sing praises to the Lord; singing with thanksgiving; sing to Him a new song.”

Fourth command  “Know that the Lord is God & we are His…”  Ps 139:14 “…fearfully and wonderfully made…”  1 Cor 3:23 “…and you belong to Christ…”

Fifth command  “Enter His gates with thanksgiving & His courts with praise; give thanks to Him & praise His name.”  The temple represented the presence of God.  We come by the blood of Jesus with thanksgiving in our hearts.

Questions we don’t ever have to ask ourselves  What if the Lord wouldn’t bless me today because I didn’t thank Him yesterday?  What if He answered my prayers the way I answer His call to serve Him day to day?  What if He decided to stop leading me tomorrow because I didn’t follow Him well today?

Be blessed!  Lord, we give you thanks that you do not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities, for You are a good God whose love knows no bounds. (Ps 103:10)
