We Are His Hands

Day 2: Hands Full of Goodnes s

Opening Prayer In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Dear Heavenly Father, Your Son used His hands in so many ways during the years of His ministry to meet the needs of many different people. As a result of using His hands, many lives were changed. Let us discover how we can serve by looking at some of the ways in which Jesus used His hands to serve others. In Your Name, Amen.

They’ll Know We Are Christians We are one in the Spirit, We are one in the Lord, We are one in the Spirit, We are one in the Lord, And we pray that all unity May one day be restored;

And they’ll know we are Christians By our love, by our love, Yes, they’ll know we are Christians By our love.

We will walk with each other We will walk hand in hand We will walk with each other We will walk hand in hand And together we’ll spread the news That God is in our land;

And they’ll know we are Christians By our love, by our love, Yes, they’ll know we are Christians By our love.

We will work with each other We will work side by side We will work with each other We will work side by side And we’ll guard each man’s dignity And save each man’s pride;

And they’ll know we are Christians By our love, by our love, Yes, they’ll know we are Christians By our love.

All Praise to the Father From whom all things come, And all praise to Christ Jesus His only Son, And all praise to the Spirit Who makes us all one;

And they’ll know we are Christians By our love, by our love, Yes, they’ll know we are Christians By our love. (Repeat)

Serving Hands What does it mean to serve? Let’s look at how Jesus served in Mark 5:22- 24, 35-43

Mark 5:22-23, Then one of the synagogue rulers, name Jairus, came there. Seeing Jesus, he fell at his feet and pleaded earnestly with him, “my little daughter is dying, please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” While Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. “Your daughter is dead,” they said.

Mark 5:22-23, “Why bother the teacher anymore?” Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, “don’t be afraid, just believe.” He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John, the brother of James. When they came to the home of the synagogue ruler, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead, but asleep.”

Mark 5:22-23, But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples that were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” Which means, “little girl, I say to you, get up!” Immediately the girl stood up and walked around. (She was twelve years old) At this they were completely astonished.

Serving Hands How did Jesus use his hands to serve? How did they treat Jesus? Break into small groups to discuss more stories.

Small Group How did Jesus serve in John 13:1-5 (the last story you read) How did Jesus use his hands to serve? Why is it a big deal that Jesus washed the feet of his disciples? What example does Jesus set for us?

Humble Thyself Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord (echo). And He (echo) Shall lift (echo) You up; higher and higher And He shall lift you up.

Serve together in the sight of the Lord (echo). And He (echo) Shall lift (echo) You up; higher and higher And He shall lift you up.

Cast all your cares at the foot of the cross (echo) And He (echo) Shall lift (echo) You up; higher and higher And He shall lift you up.

Jesus is Lord over heaven and earth (echo) And He (echo) Shall lift (echo) You up; higher and higher And He shall lift you up.

Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord (echo). And He (echo) Shall lift (echo) You up; higher and higher And He shall lift you up.

Prayers Dear Heavenly Father… Teach us to pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.”

Confession L: Let us make a confession of our sins. C: Merciful Father, we poor sinners confess that we are guilty of our sins. We sin when we tell lies, steal, hurt others and don’t do the things that you want us to. Our sins are committed by our own hands. Lord, we are sorry and seek your forgiveness.

Forgiveness L: Our loving Father sees our pain and the pain we give to others. Christ lived, died, and rose again, so that there would be forgiveness to replace the hurts of our lives. Through the love and grace of Christ, we are forgiven. C: May we go out into the world knowing we are completely forgiven and that you will guide our thoughts and actions so that we can be your hands. Amen!

New Creation I wanna be a new creation. Formed from the fingers of God’s right hand. I wanna be a new creation God’s gonna make me, God’s gonna make me stand.

I wanna see like Daniel; I wanna love like John. I wanna hope like Mary; I wanna be the rock that built upon. I wanna laugh like Sarah; I wanna preach like Paul. I wanna live like Lazarus, Play my trumpet and watch the crumbling wall.

I wanna be a new creation. Formed from the fingers of God’s right hand. I wanna be a new creation God’s gonna make me, God’s gonna make me stand.

I wanna trust like Noah; I wanna see like the man born blind. I wanna see like the man born blind. I wanna pray like Simeon prayed; I wanna pray like Simeon prayed; I wanna be the coin that the finder finds. I wanna be the coin that the finder finds. But if I never move the mountain, But if I never move the mountain, And if I never part the sea, And if I never part the sea, And if I never slay the giant, And if I never slay the giant, God do what you want with me. God do what you want with me. God do what you want with me. (Yeah!) God do what you want with me. (Yeah!)

I wanna be a new creation. Formed from the fingers of God’s right hand. I wanna be a new creation God’s gonna make me, God’s gonna make me stand.

Pastor’s Message

Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell.

Apostles’ Creed The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
